replaced master cylinder and now brakes turn on by itself!!

hello! i am very sad because me and my roommate replaced the mc in my car the other day and now when i drive my 90 ls 5sp no abs teg, the brakes lock up as if my e brake was on… we bench bled the mc, installed, bled the lines, and then i took it for a test drive and it was fine…yay magical brakes after dodging cars since may… i then went out and after driving about 5 miles after thinking everything was hunky dory and then i could feel my car slowing while was was stepping on the gas. i pulled over in a food world parking lot to the sweet smell of smoking burning brake pads… i then notice that my brake pedal is super stiff as if it was watching some tera patrick porno… there was like no leeway for the pedal…i called my roommate to pick me up and we waited for 30 min… when i got back into the car i started it up and the brake was flaccid again… i drove the car home thinking everything was fine and thought it was just a fluke or something. the next day tho when i try to start my car the pedal was again super stiff and the car wouldnt budge, as if i was braking was steppin on the gas… so i bled the brakes again and the pedal comes loose…brakes freed. i test drive it again… drive 5 miles to my moms, chat for 15-30 minutes, i come out and the brake is stiff again… i then cry out to the lord jesus to help me, grab my 10 mm wrench and then loosened the driver side front bleed valve and my car moves backwards(my mom has a hill driveway). i tighten it up and drive off. my roommate who help me install the mc and i bleed the brakes again for the third time and same shit… i drive for 10 min and the brakes come back on and the pedal gets stiff as if it was on viagra. we do it again for kicks a fourth time and same shit… i am deeply saddened… can anyone tell me whats goin on with my brakes… i know its halloween and all but man dont tell me my brakes and master cylinder and possesed by a horny demon… thanks for listening… i was trying to be detailed as possible… i just got done with the fourth bleed and my last resort was to post here… i love this place and i never had to post because all the answers i needed i found in the search… i didnt come across anyone with my same predicament so i hope someone can hook me up! I LOVE G2IC!

lol damn that’s one of the funniest posts I’ve ever seen.

Not sure what would cause your problem though… that’s… weird. Don’t think I’ve ever heard of that. COULD bea a faulty MC I guess… that’s still really strange though and I don’t know how that could even happen.

I had a similar experience a long time ago but not on a G2 though. The brakes slowly start to lock up on stop and go driving. When it’s locked, bleeding the brake fixes it then it slowly starts to lock up again as you drive - stop and go. The master cylinder was the culprit.

I havent dont this on a G2 but have done it on other cars. Check the brake adjustment under the dash. I had this car once that had its MC changed and same thing as you described. Turns out the previous owner of the car thought it was a brake pedal adjustment and over compensated for his bad MC. When the new one went on it was constantly engaged just a little bit. Check if your car has this adjustment on the pedal. If it does than jack up the wheels and see if they turn freely. If they dont try slacking the pedal a bit until they do. Sorry I would check my DA if it has it but its dark here right now. Good luck.

Funny post BTW. You my friend have a sense of humor I wish I could have.

thanks for the compliments on my story and i appreciate the tips… i plan on check the brake pedal and seeing if theres some kinda adjustment… i might take my old mc and put it in the car and see what happens… i hope that i can figure this thing out so that i can be some sort of asset to those who may come across this problem…well ill let you guys know how it goes tomorrow… happy holloweeen G2IC!!!

you may have a problem with a brake line. It maybe making a one-way valve and not letting your brake “run free”. If it is always one brake, I would check there.

brake lines could be torn internally causing it to act like a check valve… MC compensating port could be clogged(regardless if it’s a new master or not) or your MC pushrod could be adjusted to far in

I think all these have been said here pleather.

it could be your compensating port/valve, it could be plugged.

brake booster and paragraphs. two important things to look for.

no one stated compensating port was clogged until after you… do you have something against me? i notice you like to try and shut me down after every post i make… you tryna be #1 in the assistance forum or something?

did you really have to make that post after me anyway? what was the point of this? anyway if you wanna act like a baddass over the internet… my Email address is in my profile… spam me all you wantbig guy
