Is the tranny drain bolt a big one or a small one

I located one big bolt that looks like it could be the drain bolt on my automatic tranny, but i couldnt get it off. Other people are telling me there are two bolts, the lower one is the drain and the top one is the fill, but cant you just fill it up where the dipstick is???

Yeah the two bolt thing is for manual trannys. On auto and stick trannys the drain bolt is the one behind the cv shaft, the head of the bolt is taken off by useing a rachet only no socket. use a 3/8 inch drive rachet to take the bolt off, it’ll be the only bolt you can take off the tranny with just a rachet. The auto trannys you could only fill up through the dip stick, just make sure you keep checking the dip stick for when its full.

oh yeah, make sure you put a new pressure washer on the bolt or it will leak. I’ve only seen those washers at the dealer, they’re like 20 or 40 cents each.

thats not completely true! I’ve taken mine off several times and it has never leaked!
