Auto Trannies: CABLE vs HYDRO ... is it an issue?

Swapping in a '98 b18b tomorrow, so I ordered a '98 auto to match it. Then I’m told I’d run into hydro vs cable issues, so I called and had it changed to a '93 auto. Now I’m told it might not matter, and that the 98 might have worked after all … oh well. I’d rather have a matched engine and tranny, but is it an issue so I know in the future?

Cable vs Hydrolic refers to the clutch linkage. Since you have an automatic that is not an issue.
Of course there could be other issues, but I’ve never delt with a Honda automatic. Good luck!

Hey i had this question awhile back with no answer. Just from my own research. I am thinking that the b18b tranny will work but the selections are different on the gear shifters in the g3’s, there is no S3 or S4. Its got p-r-n-d-4-3-2-1 as far as i remeber So center console with shifter would have to be changed as well as the cable most likely.
But if you wanted to use the g2 tranny that will work fine.
Hth, If anyone else has tryed this i would also like to know.
