Air duct for engine bay

Hey guys im wondering if anyone had modded a air duct for the engine bay.(fog light, bumper ect…) im having problems with my car heating up on the highway(freeway) 210-220F. Boosted b18c 420hp. I have mishimoto half rad and 2 strong fans. Wrapped ram horn and down pipe, hood spacers. Any input would be appriciated

Replace the “2 strong fans” with a single good fan and you’ll be set. I have a similar setup to yours and this is the fan that significantly reduced my coolant temps: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/spu-ix-30102029/overview/.

If it’s overheating on the freeway then it likely isn’t a fan problem. An issue with the fans being inadequate would show up when at low speed or not moving. When at highway speeds the fas aren’t doing anything other than getting in the way from air coming thru the radiator due to the speed you’re traveling.

Is there any way you can fit a full size radiator in there?

No way to fit a full size rad the turbo and wastegate in the way

Heres a few pics, maradyne 14in fan i beleive pumps out 2000cfm or something 18amps and also 800cfm mishi fan behind intercooler

Why the fan for the intercooler?

The fans aren’t the issue - or actually they may be more part of the problem than the solution. You said it’s overheating on the freeway, this means that you’re overheating when you already have maximum natural air flow. When you’re at speed the fans just block airflow.

A friend of mine had overheating issues with a half rad and was able to help the problem by blocking airflow on the other side (where there was no radiator). Blocking that side forced air to run thru the radiator instead of around it. You could also try an oil cooler.

Put the fan behind the intercooler to pull more air towards the rad. I have a plate blocking the the rad from the open space toward downpipe. If i block off oposite side of rad i wont cause problems cooling down the intercooler? I also do have an oem oil cooler on the oil filter.

You wouldn’t want to block the intercooler if it extends over in that area. You’d just want to block around it to funnel air into the intercooler and radiator.

The OEM “oil cooler” doesn’t really do much - it’s really a “heat exchanger” so it’s just cooling the oil with hot water. A real oil cooler would do a LOT more.

So i should block it off something like this?

Yup, something like that would be perfect, just block off all of the free space and let the air flow directly thru the rad and IC.

Ok i will test that out and see how it works! Keep you posted

Yeah, just try to mock up some cardboard or something and see how that works out and you can always fab up something nicer and permanent if that fixes the problem. If not then time to hunt for other solutions.
